What
is an AHT?
If you are looking for a dog breed that is lively, faithful, easy to care for and adjustable to everything, then the AHT is exactly what you are looking for. The AHT is a small, happy, lively and very energetic little dog. Terrier does not mean in the AHT that it is hot tempered as the common belief of terriers is. There are always exceptions as in any breed, but mostly the AHTs are social with everyone and agree with anyone. The AHT is a great dog in homes that have both children and other dogs. The AHT loves children and does get along with other dogs. The breed is so new in Finland and Europe, that the breeders have a chance to affect, even in the future, to the breed's character by choosing to use only dogs with the best character for breeding. The body of the dog is completely hairless. Some dogs may have a so called "peach fuzz" on their skin. This fuzz is similar to what you have seen on peaches. The hair does not grow in length and does not grow more either. As an exception, the girls may grow a little hair during their heat or before the heat occurs. The individual hairs disappear again when the dogs hormones are at the normal level. All the colors and color combinations are allowed. As the most known color is the completely one-colored head and white body with spots. The dog should be muscular by it's body type. The body should be long and the legs relatively short. The head is of it's scull a little round. The amount of teeth of the AHT should be perfect. A normal 42 teeth either by scissor- or pincer bite. The AHT is an American breed and it's represented in America by UKC and it's own association AHTA. The breed is not yet registered in Finland. The UKC has given us Finnish AHT owners a chance to register our litters in the UKC register. So all the puppies that are born in Finland get a UKC register book. It is said that the AHT fits even people suffering from pet allergies. I have very little experience on how well the AHT is tolerated by allergics, but my experiences so far have been very positive. All the puppies from my first litter went to homes with allergy sufferers. I think that the main reason for the belief that the AHT does not cause allergic reactions is that the AHT is completely hairless and therefore very easy to keep clean. This means that the allergens causing reactio ns are easily eliminated. Still, there is no way to say for sure that AHTs are tolerated by all allergy sufferers.
