Peruvian Hairless Dog litter in kennel EXOTIC'S ORCHIDEE

After the year of 1994 there are several Peruvian Hairless Dogs been imported from all over the world: Denmark, Germany, Czech Republic, Russia, USA, France and Peru. Nearly all Peruvians living in Finland belong to the so-called European bloodline. Most dogs mentioned in pedigrees are from Sweden, Germany, the Netherlands, Denmark and Czech Republic. Only in the last 2 –3 years new blood has been brought in to the breed – mostly from the breed’s original country, Peru – by the following kennels: Scarface, Bay’s Bushyfur and Wanhan Wuoren. There have been registered all together 252 Peruvian Hairless Dogs in 2004 in Finland. Some of the dogs have been exported – so there must be some 230 Peruvian Hairless Dogs living in Finland at the moment by my opinion.

There are 3 different sizes accepted in this breed: small, medium and large. It is very difficult to count the numbers of each size class.
During the years 1989 – 1997 all sizes were registered using the same code in Finnish Kennel Club. In 1998 it changed and each size got its own code.

The instructions for registration a Peruvian Hairless Dog by SKL-FKK:
Puppies are registered according the declaration of a breeder. Changes depending on the size,
see 4.3.>> The dog breeds that can be bred using different size classes are changed to new size class according the announcement given by a judge. The office of the Finnish Kennel Club is allowed to do the change according to the announcement by a judge, which is chosen by two clubs<<The change can be made when the dog is 15 months old. The different sized dogs are allowed to breed together.

The pedigree can be sent to the Finnish Kennel Club for the change. The change can be made only once.

I wanted to include these instructions here because it refers to the difficulties in counting the numbers in each size class.

Coated Peruvian Hairless dogs barely ever come to the right size class – they are not allowed to the shows and the size class does not matter that much.
